MAKE WAVES! is a non-profit citizen run organization created in February of 2007 to address the urgent question of how to deal with Port Townsend's aging public pool and the implications of its possible closure.

The group's mission is:

"To develop a multipurpose aquatic, recreation, and fitness center that is affordable, financially sustainable, politically supportable, and serves the needs of all the members of our community for generations to come."

swimtrainS.jpg Get On Board the Swim Train!!! The only functioning public pool in Jefferson County is operated by the City of Port Townsend and housed at the Mountain View School campus. That aging pool has a limited life expectancy and remains open only as a condition of the City's continuing lease of the Mountain View property. It is our determination to find and develop an alternative, assuring the people of this region continued access to such a valuable and necessary asset to our community.
